LC PURE Laboratory MINI-100 EDI Module An Efficient and Convenient Small-Scale Ultra-Pure Water Solution

In the field of laboratory ultra-pure water preparation, the LC PURE Laboratory MINI-100 EDI module has become an ideal choice for many laboratories due to its excellent performance and user-friendly features. It organically combines electrodialysis and ion exchange technologies to provide stable and high-quality ultra-pure water for laboratories.
The working principle of the LC PURE Laboratory MINI-100 EDI module is based on EDI technology, which uses mixed ion exchange resins to adsorb cations and anions in water. At the same time, under the action of a DC electric field, these adsorbed ions are removed by passing through anion and cation exchange membranes respectively.
The anion exchange membrane facing the positive electrode and the cation exchange membrane facing the negative electrode form a fresh water chamber; the anion membrane facing the negative electrode and the cation membrane facing the positive electrode form a concentrated water chamber. Anion and cation resins are sandwiched between the fresh water chamber and the concentrated water chamber. When water flows through the fresh water and concentrated water chambers, the ion exchange resins adsorb the ions in the water. The electrodes at both ends of the module provide a transverse DC electric field, which drives the ions through the ion exchange membranes, reducing the ion concentration in the fresh water chamber, improving its purity, and increasing the ion concentration in the concentrated water chamber. The MINI-100 is composed of such basic units to achieve continuous production of ultra-pure water.

The inlet water of the module must be the product water of reverse osmosis (RO), with an inlet conductivity of less than 10μs/cm (including CO₂ and silicon). If it is less than 5μs/cm, it will be more beneficial to the service life and loss reduction of the module. Other specific requirements are as follows:
Temperature: 5-30℃
Inlet water pressure: 0.1-0.3MPa
Maximum total chlorine content (i.e., Cl₂ content): ﹤0.02 ppm
Iron (Fe): ﹤0.01 ppm
Manganese (Mn): ﹤0.01 ppm
Sulfide (S⁻): ﹤0.01 ppm
pH value: 7-8
Total hardness (as CaCO₃): ﹤0.5 ppm
Total organic carbon (TOC, calculated as C): ﹤0.5 ppm
Silicon (as SiSO₂): ﹤0.5 ppm
Oxidizing substances: Not detected
Oil/fat: Not detected
It can continuously produce ultra-pure water, eliminating the complex regeneration operations in the use of mixed beds and reducing the need for many standby devices.
The installation conditions are simple and the floor space is small, making it suitable for laboratories with limited space.
There is no need to treat acid and alkali wastewater, and there is no neutralization, discharge, or treatment system for acid and alkali wastewater, which meets environmental protection requirements. The concentrated water can be directly reused, and the amount of electrode water discharged is very small, resulting in low operating costs.
The design is practical, making maintenance and expansion convenient. Only a short shutdown is required during maintenance and replacement.
The quality of the produced water is stable, without the water quality fluctuations of ordinary mixed beds, which can provide a stable water quality guarantee for laboratory experiments.
It is easy to operate and use, and can realize unattended operation, saving labor costs.
With its advantages of high efficiency, stability, and environmental protection, the LC PURE Laboratory MINI-100 EDI module provides a reliable solution for laboratory ultra-pure water preparation, meeting the needs of various experiments for high-purity water.
